Summary: Coordinates and oversees the activities of adoptions counselors. Ensures all on-site adoptions run smoothly. Perpetuates positive public and employee relations. Settles employee disputes and resolves customer complaints and problems.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to handle animals in all conditions and be able to train co-workers in job duties and safe animal handling procedures; must be able to read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly. Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict. Should have experience in an animal welfare environment. Understanding of retail and cash handling operations is required. Must be able to function in an extremely stressful environment, be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with no moving violations.
Client Service Specialist, Sunnyslope
Summary: Assist the public in a courteous and professional manner. Receive and kennel animals, collect monies and balance cash drawer.
Requirements: A
high school diploma plus one year experience in a customer service or
receptionist position is required. Must be able to handle animals
safely and humanely in any situation. Requires above average clerical
skills, including legible handwriting, spelling and grammar as well as
strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be able to file
alphabetically, handle money and balance a cash register. Must be able
to work in stressful conditions.
Information Ambassador Full time and Part time (26 hours), South Mountain
Summary: Answer and direct 8 line-phone system. Determine purpose of call and direct callers to appropriate department, individual or alternative agency information in a timely manner. Greet public in a friendly and inviting manner. Handle deliveries and donations of items quickly. Provide clear assistance to other departments as requested.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent plus at least 2 work experiences in similar or related position. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Must possess excellent telephone answering techniques, customer service skills and present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Must have ability to multi-task in a busy environment, and be able to read, write and speak English clearly. English/Spanish bilingual preferred. Must be able to perform clerical duties such as records maintenance and filing.
Maintenance Tech II Full time, Sunnyslope
Summary: Assist with the maintenance and repair of the facility's plumbing, heating cooling and electrical systems; keep premises safe and comfortable for the animals, the public and employees. Also must maintain vehicles, purchase parts and supplies and conduct preventative maintenance. Deals with vendors, contractors and suppliers. Also must conduct preventative maintenance and remain on call 24 hour a day, seven days a week in order to respond to emergencies at the facility.
Requirements: High school diploma. Must have basic knowledge of building maintenance as well as vehicle maintenance and general overall maintenance and repair capabilities. Must be able to read and write English and complete required paper work accurately and legibly. Must be over 21 years of age and possess a valid Arizona driver's license with no moving violations and have own transportation in order to respond to emergency calls.
Special Events Manager, South Mountain
Summary: The Special Events Manager is responsible for all signature events of the Arizona Humane Society. This individual will create and manage the event concept, budget, promotional plan, sponsorship package and solicitation, committee interface, logistics and evaluation for all events. Signature events include two annual, high-profile events with expected revenue of $700K. Other ongoing events include donor recognition events, adopt-a-thons, grand openings, as well as the launch and execution of smaller, engaging events. This individual will manage all existing events, as well as develop new fundraising strategies to engage corporations, foundations and individual donors. This individual also serves as the manager for all events where AHS is the designated beneficiary.
Duties
- Event fundraising management: Develop and implement unique fundraising strategies. Manage all communication and promotional needs for event.
- Budgeting and project management: Create and adhere to project budgets and timelines. Track and collect funds raised for special events. Monitor progress of registration, ticket sales and income goals and adjust plans as appropriate. Conduct post-event follow.
- Recruitment and retention of event participants: Develop and implement recruitment plans and fundraising strategies for events.
- Donor/participant relations. Manage special committees for events. This includes developing goals and objectives for committees, facilitating meetings and leading those committees towards successfully completing the established goals and objectives, as well as recognition.
- Sponsorships/In-Kind Donations: Craft and execute sponsorship opportunities. Identify corporations to solicit. Actively solicit in-kind donations for silent auctions, raffles and prizes.
- Vendor relations: Work closely with and negotiate with external vendors to coordinate goods and services for special events. Manage relationships to ensure the best service and most efficient cost for goods and services.
- Overall responsibilities. Foster strong working relationships with board and committee members, donors, volunteers and staff. Ongoing contribution to the strategic, long-term vision through suggestions for innovation and efficiencies in fundraising programming. Continuous critical evaluation of current special events to determine if they are effective fundraising vehicles. Investigate new ideas for future events. Update attendee and donor records.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree required, 3-5 years successful experience in non-profit event management and planning, along with demonstrated successful experience in fundraising program development and execution. Proven success in sponsorship a plus. Marketing experience and insight into consumer thinking also a plus. Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communications skills (both written and oral) with attention to detail. Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines. Excellent organizational skills. Must be a team player with a commitment to relationship-building, both internally and externally. Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events. Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge is desired.

Animal Care Attendant
Summary: Clean facility and animal habitats; feed, water and exercise animals brought into the Arizona Humane Society.
Requirements: A basic knowledge of animals and animal handling is preferred. Must be able to speak, read and write English legibly. Must be able to work flexible work schedule which may include nights and weekends.
Clinic Tech I or II
Summary: Assist the veterinarians in the treatment of animals and to independently evaluate animals to determine adoptability. To assist the veterinarians in all aspects of The Arizona Humane Society clinics including surgery, radiology, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, client education, clinic asepsis, fluid therapy and the administration of prescribed medications.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED and preferably the completion of a Veterinary Technician program or minimum of two years of experience at a veterinary hospital. (Education may substitute for experience.) Must have specialized training under the direct supervision of a veterinarian or from a veterinary technician school. Must know phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, pharmacology, radiology, and perform safe and humane animal handling. Must be proficient in anesthesiology, anatomy, physiology.
