Adoptions Counselor

Job Summary: Assist the public in the matchmaking adoption process of animals in the care of The Arizona Humane Society and represent The Society at off-site adoption locations and events. 

Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to handle animals safely and humanely in all conditions. Must be able to read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly. Familiarity with computer data entry required. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings. Understanding of retail and cash handling operations required. Six months to one year prior work experience preferred. 


Animal Care Attendants (p/t and f/t)
Job Summary: Clean facility and animal habitats; feed, water and exercise animals brought into the Arizona Humane Society.  

Job Requirements: A basic knowledge of animals and animal handling is preferred. Must be able to speak, read and write English legibly.


Clinic Technician II

Job Summary: Check in/check out patients for surgery. Assist the veterinarians in the evaluation, surgery and recovery of spay/neuter patients. Able to assist in or fluent in fluid therapy, laboratory procedures and medication. Can handle multiple phone lines, computer and customer service skills.


Job Requirements: Strong animal handling skills. Minimum of 2 years experiences as a working veterinary technician. Prefer completion of 2-year Vet Tech program with increase for CVT. Must know phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, pharmacology, endocrinology, anesthesiollogy and anatomy and physiology.


 

Hospital Services Supervisor
Job Summary: Assist the Hospital Manager in all aspects of the hospital. Supervise and direct all technical staff and activities of the hospital under the guidance of the manager. Assist Hospital Manager in preparing area budgets. Assist in developing hospital programs and scheduling all technical staff to support clinic ventures. Perform all technical hires, corrective actions and keep Hospital Manager updated on all issues related to employees.

Job Requirements: Graduation from an accredited technical school and two years practical experience in a veterinary clinic plus at least one year surgery experience or Associates Degree in Business or a related field. Must have two years of supervisory experience. Should have good interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict. Must have scheduling and documentation experience.


Manager of Corporate and Foundation Giving

Job Summary: Reports to and works closely with the Director of Development to maintain current corporate and foundation donors and to identify, cultivate and solicit new sources. Successful candidates will create relationships with, visit, solicit and act as the primary liaison with corporate and foundation donors. Position will prepare, write and submit proposals, prepare interim and final and follow-up reports and other correspondence. Also responsible for updating and managing donor records within Raiser’s Edge and represent the Arizona Humane Society at donor events.


Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in development and fund raising. Minimum three years prior experience in corporate and foundation giving, preferably in the Phoenix market. Must have proven experience meeting with individuals in a one-on-one setting as well as with corporate and foundation personnel. Involvement in AFP and animal welfare experience preferred.



Manager of Public and Community Relations

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic self-starter to manage media relations, oversee marketing and communication projects, supervise and coordinate public information programs; and serve as a key public spokesperson for our organization. 

This professional will develop and pitch story ideas to news media; write and issue press releases; and represent the AHS in local, national and international media.  He/she will develop and implement marketing plans for AHS special events, programs and services; and assist with articles and photographs for the AHS website and publications.


Job Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations or related field; a minimum of three years’ experience in a PIO role; at least two years’ experience working with an animal shelter, and familiarity with animal welfare issues.  Requirements include: strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; outstanding written and verbal communication skills; and experience with AP style guidelines. Must be able to meet deadlines and work on time-sensitive matters; maintain a professional demeanor and appearance; handle animals safely and humanely; and establish rapport and communicate with members of the media and public. Excellent judgment and decision-making skills are critical, as is the ability to work independently. Must be able to manage “breaking news” situations and work early mornings, evenings, weekends and some holidays, as needed. Supervisory experience and knowledge of digital photography preferred. Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish preferred.  Animal welfare or nonprofit experience strongly desired.
