Current Job Openings: Behavior Evaluator, Behavior Programs Department
Job Summary: Ensure the department operation runs smoothly by performing behavior evaluations and kennel enrichment. Assess each dog and profile to ensure safety of public and staff. Train new employees and volunteers on animal handling. Maintain positive public and employee relations.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of two years experience in animal welfare (behavior evaluation experience preferred). Must be able to handle animals in all conditions and be able to train co-workers and volunteers in job duties and safe animal handling. Must be able to read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly. Must possess excellent work ethic and positively speak about behavior programs and kennel enrichment. Must be able to function in an extremely stressful environment.
CRITICAL DEMANDS: Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. This position requires continuous standing, walking and kneeling, reaching, stooping and bending with little opportunity to sit down. This person must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds. The Behavior evaluator works with and around others nearly all the time; seldom works alone and must deal with constant interruptions. The position requires repetitive motion of the hand, wrist and elbow as well as good vision and hearing. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals and be able to speak clearly and communicate well with employees and the public. This individual handles a high volume of animals, has a great deal of contact with the all departments and works closely with co-workers; is exposed to poor ventilation, heat, cold, sudden temperature changes and wet quarters as well as noise, toxic conditions, animal odors and dander as well as potentially dangerous, fast-moving animals.

Adoptions Counselor, Adoptions - Sunnyslope
Job Summary: Assist the public in the matchmaking adoption process of animals in the care of The Arizona Humane Society and represent The Society at off-site adoption locations and events.
Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to handle animals safely and humanely in all conditions. Must be able to read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly. Familiarity with computer data entry required. Must possess excellent customer service skills. Able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings. Understanding of retail and cash handling operations required. Six months to one year prior work experience preferred.
Clinic Tech 1 Part-Time Saturday & Sunday hrs 8-5:30 only - South Mountain
Job Summary: To assist the veterinarians in the treatment of animals and to independently evaluate animals to determine adoptability. To assist the veterinarians in all aspects of The Arizona Humane Society clinics including surgery, radiology, dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, client education, clinic asepsis, fluid therapy and the administration of prescribed medications.
Job Requirements: High school diploma and preferably the completion of a Veterinary Technician program, the Society’s Tech Trainee program or minimum of one to four years of experience at a veterinary hospital. Must have specialized training under the direct supervision of a veterinarian or from a veterinary technician school. Must know how to vaccinate animals, detect symptoms of basic disease, basic pharmacology, basic immunology and perform safe and humane animal handling.

Retail Sales Associate F/T - Support Services, South Mountain
Job Summary: Assist retail operations in the Pet store. Work along with volunteers to cover available shifts. Utilize display areas and market inventory to generate a high volume of sales. Build donor/customer relations to ensure the long term success of the stores.
Job Requirements: Retail background required. Must be able to count and handle money and calculate correct change. Must be able to complete paperwork accurately and legibly and use computer systems. Must possess excellent customer service skills.
Mobile Unit Veterinary Tech - Public Clinics, Mobile Unit
Job Summary: Traveling to Mobile sites each week to assist Veterinarians on the Mobile in the examination of animals to determine if they are candidates for spay/neuter surgery or vaccination. Assist Veterinarians in all aspects of the clinic to include anesthesia, surgery, laboratory diagnostics, client education, fluid therapy, IV catheterization, clinic asepsis, administration of prescribed drugs and vaccines.
Job Requirements: Completion of Vet Tech program or equivalent experience in veterinary hospital. Increase for CVT. Must be able to detect symptoms of obvious disease or medical conditions that would prevent an animal from receiving spay/neuter surgery or vaccinations. Must possess working knowledge of pharmacology, phlebotomy, immunology, parasitology, endocrinology, anesthesiology, anatomy and physiology and demonstrate safe and humane animal handling skills. Must be willing to travel to new Mobile cites each week, and work in the stationary clinics on Fridays. Must be able to work in close quarters with others, lift 50 lbs., and able to work and stand for long hours.
Adoptions Coordinator - Adoptions, South Mountain
Job Summary: Coordinates and oversees the activities of adoptions counselors. Ensures all on-site adoptions run smoothly. Perpetuates positive public and employee relations. Settles employee disputes and resolves customer complaints and problems.
Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to handle animals in all conditions and be able to train co-workers in job duties and safe animal handling procedures; must be able to read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly. Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict. Should have experience in an animal welfare environment. Understanding of retail and cash handling operations is required. Must be able to function in an extremely stressful environment, be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with no moving violations.
Animal Care Attendant - Animal Care, Sunnyslope
Job Summary: Clean facility and animal habitats; feed, water and exercise animals brought into the Arizona Humane Society.
Job Requirements: Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license with no violations. A basic knowledge of animals and animal handling is preferred. Must be able to speak, read and write English legibly. Must be able to work flexible work schedule, which may include nights and weekends.
