We asked our staff to come up a Wish List of items that would help them provide the best possible animal care, while also enabling them to do their jobs better and save money so we can dedicate the greatest amount of our resources directly to the pets who are relying on us. Following are some of the items our staff identified that would help us carry out smooth, cost-effective shelter operations all year long:

  • Pre-paid gasoline cards (for EAMT™ rescue vehicles and animal-transport vans)
  • New and gently used comforters, which are cushy beds for the dogs in our hospital
  • New, unopened canned cat and kitten food for our feline friends in foster care
  • Bottled water for the team who works aboard our mobile spay/neuter clinic
    and for our EAMTs

Clinic and animal-care items such as:

  • Bleach
  • Laundry detergent
  • Fabric-softener sheets for the dryer
  • SoftScrub™ brand cleanser
  • Plain white paper towels
  • Floor squeegees

Office and shelter supplies such as:

  • New or gently used 3-ring binders
  • New legal-size notepads
  • Dry erase markers
  • Manila file folders (8 ½ by 11)
  • Heavy duty, clear-plastic sheet protectors (used to protect hospital patient charts on kennel doors)
  • Playtex™  gloves (medium and large sizes)
  • Batteries (AAA, AA, C and 9-volt)
  • Digital cameras and small, spiral-bound notebooks (for EAMTs to document scenes of animal abuse or neglect)
  • Inexpensive plastic buckets (for EAMTs to provide to dog owners who cannot afford water bowls)

Other items we always need:

  • Washable stuffed dog toys (without buttons, bows or other choking hazards)
  • Hard plastic and washable fabric cat toys
  • Shower curtain rings (which double as cat toys for kitties in kennels)
  • Toilet-lid covers or washable fleecy cat beds
  • Unopened food for domestic ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils and rabbits
  • Unopened timothy hay
  • New, untreated wood chew sticks for little critters
