Adoption Information

adoptReady to adopt a friend for life?

It’s a big step, but we will help you. First you’ll talk to one of our adoption counselors or specially-trained volunteers and complete a pre-adoption questionnaire. Then you’ll spend time with the pet in one of our Get-Acquainted areas to see if you and the pet make an appropriate match.

To adopt a pet, you must…

- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide current photo identification
- Have a verifiable address (If you rent, bring a copy of your lease agreement and your property manager’s telephone number at the time of adoption. We will verify that the species, breed and size of the animal you wish to adopt is allowed.)

Special Adoption Programs

Best Buddies

They may not be twins, but these animals go together like peas ‘n’ carrots. And we just can’t bear to see them separated! These pets have a special bond and must be adopted together and stay together. To make the deal even sweeter for potential adopters, we’ve made their adoption fees a 2-for-1 deal!

Lonely Hearts Club

Ever get picked last or next-to-last in P.E.? That’s kind of how these cats and dogs feel. As members of the Lonely Hearts Club, these pets have been awaiting adoption longer than they should. So to help them find their forever home, we’ve reduced their adoption fee. (Dogs - $35; Cats/rabbits/ferrets - $20)

PAWS Program (Partnering Animals with Seniors)

Qualifying adopters aged 60 and older can adopt a cat aged 2 years or older FREE OF CHARGE or a dog aged 2 years or older for a mere $25!

Senior Citizen Discount

Those 60 years and older can receive a 15 percent discount off the regular adoption fee of any pet. (Cannot be used with PAWS Program)

Twice as Nice

They say two’s better than one. So it’s in this spirit that we offer our Twice as Nice program! Adopt one animal and get 50% off the adoption fee of a second (pets must get along; second adoption must take place within 30 days of the first).

Prime Time

Sure, those puppies and kittens are cute as a button. And everyone wants one. But older pets are great, too. Chances are, they don’t require much training and they’ll tend to be more laid back. So for dogs 5 years or older, our adoption fee is only $35. And the adoption fee for cats  5 years or older is just $20.

Additional Special Programs

While the programs below are not offered to the public, they are extremely important in allowing us to fulfill our mission to save more animals.

SAFE

Saving Animals From Euthanasia: this is a foster program that allows us to place kennel stressed animals into foster homes until they find their forever adopter.

Project Safehouse

Through this program, we place owned animals of domestic violence victims into foster homes.

Project Active Duty

We find suitable foster homes for owned animals of military personnel when they are called to serve our country.

Project Assist

This program allows us to place owned animals of clients in crisis into a caring foster home.

Adoption Partner Program

We work with a number of other organizations to place more animals with approved rescue groups.

Wildlife Releases

When wild animals come into our care, we work with approved wildlife rescue organizations to re-release these animals to their natural environment.

Finder Will Adopt

When a lost or stray animal is found by a good Samaritan, and wishes to adopt the animal, we work within our system to try our best to make this happen. These adopters must still successfully complete our adoption screening process.

Project Reachout

When we have additional space, we work with humane societies and animal control shelters state-wide to bring in animals from their facilities to allow them the chance to find a forever home.

New Hope

New Hope is a joint program between us and Maricopa County Animal Care and Control that allows us to accept animals from their facilities to place on our adoption floor and allow them the chance at a new home.
