Free Vaccine Event Keeps Dogs Healthy and Tails Wagging

Written by: Arizona Humane Society
Our Healthy Tails Mobile Veterinary Clinic administered 300 vaccines in just one day!

On Monday, December 18, the Arizona Humane Society hosted a free “Vaccine Blitz” event for owned dogs at two Food City locations in the Valley. We were delighted to see the many pups — and people — who came out to participate!

The event was first-come, first-served with 150 spots available at each location. We’re happy to report that each and every spot was filled, which means that 300 dogs received their free DA2PP vaccinations! These will help prevent highly contagious, often deadly, diseases such as Distemper and Parvo. In addition, the AHS medical staff provided free wellness exams, microchips and distributed vouchers for spay/neuter surgeries.

A big thanks to the always generous Food City, Petco Love, AHS’ Circle of Friends, the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust and Cox Communications, who made the event possible.

Here at AHS, we’re big proponents of keeping dogs up to date on their vaccines. Doing so helps not only prevent communicable diseases but also helps keep pets in their homes and out of overcrowded Valley shelters. Additionally, vaccines can help:

  • Prevent serious illnesses/diseases
  • Avoid costly treatment for preventable diseases
  • Protect against transmissible diseases like rabies
  • Help pets live longer lives

Thank you for helping keep Valley pets safe!
